After a long period without traveling, confined at home preserving our health, finally Fijet Spain resumes its activity. I am pleased to announce that I have been invite, in representation of Fijet Spain, to participate in the first official UNWTO trip, in collaboration with the Government of the Canary Islands, to the Canary Archipelago, from July 8 to 13.
UNDER THE SLOGAN “ISLAS CANARIAS, SAFE DESTINATION”
The Government of the Canary Islands has been working for months on the strategy of reopening tourism in the face of the crisis generated by COVID-19. Already in April, the Minister of Tourism, Industry and Commerce,Yaiza Castilla, presented to the UNWTO Secretary General, Zurab Pololikashvili, the
project in which he works to make the Canary Islands a safe destination by applying a redesign plan for processes throughout the value chain of tourism activity, creating and verifying protocols for each service and minimizing any risk to transmit health security to tourists.
UNWTO welcomed the Canary Islands initiative, and agreed to collaborate through its Department of Innovation and Digital Transformation and its Department of Communication. As a result of this collaboration, the UNWTO accepted the proposal to participate in the first official trip of the UNWTO delegation to learn first-hand about the security measures adopted throughout the value chain of the tourism sector of the islands.

On July 8, the President of the Canary Islands, Ángel Víctor Torres and the Minister of Tourism, Yaiza Castilla will receive the flight from Madrid in Gran Canaria. About 180 people will form the entourage that will also serve to test security protocols both at destination and at origin, which includes carrying out voluntary PCR and serological tests on guests in charge of a medical team before embarking on the trip, in addition to the opportunity to use the Hi + Card application, a tool endorsed by the OMT in which the user can save the test result on their mobile so that it is accessible and can be displayed whenever necessary.
Journalists and guests will be part of several groups (press trip and fam trip) that, thanks to the collaboration of the different island councils and the Binter airline, will be able to visit all the islands until July 13, with the aim of knowing better each destination and check the health security processes that have been implemented to improve the quality of the vacation experience in the new normal.
On board the plane will also travel the group of sanitary team who won the promotion “You deserve it. Enter the Tranquility Phase” which, as part of the national campaign, will bring to the Islands some thirty health professionals from the Peninsula to enjoy a vacation in the Canary Islands.
I will tell you about the development of the trip through the Social Networks of Fijet Spain.
Best,
Nuria Alberti
