THE WORLD GARDEN
OF THE GOLDEN APPLES OF FIJET
The apple is among the most spread symbols in human history. It is
present in almost all religions and beliefs since ancient times.
Somewhere it is a fruit of the sin, elsewhere – of the temptation, for
third – of the knowledge, for fourth it is a symbol of beauty. Even of
contention.
The apple has many faces – In the Old Testament, the apple was substantial for the fault of man. In the New Testament, it is an emblem
of the redemption of that fault.
In the love songs of the Song of Solomon, the apple is used in a sensual context. In these latter instances, the apple is a symbol of beauty.
During the Jewish New Year (Rosh Hashanah) it is customary to eat
apples to evoke a „sweet new year“.
The Greek hero Heracles, as a part of his Twelve Labours, was required to travel to the Garden of the Hesperides and picks the
golden apple off the Tree of Life.
The Trojan War burst out, after Paris of Troy awarded the apple to
Aphrodite, because she tempted him with the most beautiful woman
in the world, Helen of Sparta.
The apple is the reason for one of the great findings in the Physics –
Isaac Newton’s Universal Gravitation.
In many countries the custom, that the children give their teachers
apples as a gratitude for the knowledge they have given them, is still
respected.
In FIJET the apple is a symbol of the knowledge. The members of
FIJET discover the world through it. At the same time the world
discovers us.
To increase its value we make it golden.
The Golden Apple is an extremely prestigious international recognition awarded for contribution in various spheres such as the development of tourism, the preservation of nature and history,
development of culture, care for the local community, preservation
of traditions. It has a feature that makes it unique: awarded by journalists.
There is no lobbying for it. There are no restrictions for participa4
tion. An application form filled in. All candidatures, which meet the
standards, are offered for consideration to the Board of Directors at
FIJET. This is a highly influential body, because it consists of representatives from more than 25 countries. But most importantly, the
members of the Board are famous journalists in their home countries. The Golden Apple is a journalist award. It is the verdict of the
„sharp quill pens“.
The best proposals receive the trust of the journalistic Board. The
winners receive an award, the journalists discover new places and
new stories for their publications.
The Golden Apple was founded as an award of FIJET in 1970. It is
awarded each year to places that are among the symbols of world
tourism.
Our stories and photos from our events are amazing atlas of the
most remarkable and beautiful places on the planet. They are the favorite places of the world’s tourist. But they are also symbols of the
care for the preservation of world culture and history. They are the
success stories for the development of one of the most important
global industries – the tourism.
There are a lot of world rankings about the places you must visit.
The world garden of the golden apples of FIJET is a leader among them.
