WELCOMED BY THE CITY OF IZMIR
City Mayor of Izmir Tunc Soyer welcomed yesterday at a reception in City Hall Fijet, Mediterranean Toursim Foundation and Aurjet Executive committees and other members and officials here to be attend the Golden Apple Award Ceremony what will be given to City of Izmir, for extraordinary contribution to tourism.
İzmir has been selected for the Climate Neutral and Smart Cities Mission of the European Union – Making a difference with its local government vision and action plans against climate change, İzmir is the European Union’s Climate Neutral and Smart Cities Mission among 377 cities. Tunç Soyer, th City Mayor is expressing his pride in being elected to the mission , after the 2022 European Award was given to our Izmir. We learned that the aim is to build a city, country and world that is compatible with nature, resilient, high in welfare and protecting its biodiversity.
A Izmir community and area is a thriving business and commercial hub focused on progress, investment and job creation, as well as tourism destination. They offer sports and recreation, fine cultural activities, year round festivals, gastronomy and wine tours, traditional and heritage , focusing on economic revitalization.
Izmir diverse history from old more than 8,500 years gives Izmir community a rich mix of cultures, offering frequent culture and travel exchanges and economic opportunities.
Enterprises of certain sizes, types, or sectors are obliged to become members of the chamber, but Small business, arts and culture and entrepreneurs all contribute to making the area economy strong. Mr. Ozkardes, his Advisors and Tourism Team of Izmir Chamber hosted delagations in a head building located in downtown, presenting us all actions what they and their members collaborate and create, specially after pandemic restrictions. Chamber departments in toursim stand ready to help to all to be succeed on the job or in business.
Selcuk Yaşar Sports and Education Foundation decided to establish Yaşar University in 1999. Yaşar Group of Companies, known for their contribution and leadership in the Turkish economy, wished to establish a contemporary university, so in 2001 the modern University was born. Vice Rector, Levent Kandiller and his team hosted Delegation, presenting Yasar University growing national and international profile, with its mission -Cretaing sustainable value through superior education and contributing to society by cultivating those innovative individuals who will shape the future. Yasar University was the host of Fijet Young Journalists Academy held in 2018.
We learned more about Izmir development. Tijani Haddad, the President of Fijet and Tony Zahra, President of MTF and Fijet Members gave thanks to all hosts for a warm hospitality and generosity.
Thanks to all hosts giving us the opportunity to learn more about Izmir and its surroundings. They deserve the „Golden Apple“- Tourism Oscar. The award is dispplayed on the screen at the main square.
